The acting Zonal Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja, ACE I Michael Wetkas, has called for deeper collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS) to enhance the fight against financial and economic crimes.

Wetkas made this known during a courtesy visit to the Federal Capital Territory Command of the DSS, where he highlighted the importance of inter-agency cooperation, especially in intelligence sharing and joint operations.

He explained that following his posting to the Abuja Zonal Directorate in March 2025, it became crucial to reinforce partnerships with other key security agencies. Drawing from his previous experiences in Gombe and Lagos, Wetkas said collaboration with the DSS had proven vital to operational success.

“This meeting is to formally introduce myself and my team. In the course of our duties, we’ll frequently interact, and we need to support each other,” he told DSS officials.

In response, State Director of Security Usman N. Dauda, represented by Deputy Director of Operations Babangida Aliyu, welcomed the EFCC team and emphasized the need for continued cooperation, particularly at technical and operational levels. He also suggested informal social interactions between officers to strengthen mutual understanding.

Wetkas was accompanied by senior EFCC officials, including ACE I Adenike S. Babalola, Head of Investigations at the Abuja Zonal Office.
