In a fiery blend of satire and sharp criticism, Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan has set the Nigerian political space ablaze with a public “apology” to Senate President Godswill Akpabio — an apology dripping with sarcasm and defiance.
Posted on her verified Facebook page on Sunday, April 27, Senator Natasha’s letter opens with a theatrical tone:
“It is with the deepest sarcasm and utmost theatrical regret that I tender this apology for the grievous crime of possessing dignity and self-respect in your most exalted presence,” she wrote.
The Senator, known for her fearless and outspoken style, accused Akpabio of fostering a legislative culture where personal compliance trumps merit.
“I have reflected extensively on my unforgivable failure to recognize that legislative success in certain quarters is apparently not earned through merit, but through the ancient art of compliance — of the very personal kind,” she stated pointedly.
Without mincing words, Natasha suggested that her refusal to submit to Akpabio’s alleged “requests” led to professional setbacks — but she framed her defiance as a principled stand for dignity and competence.
“Please find it in your magnanimous heart — somewhere buried deep beneath layers of entitlement — to forgive this stubborn woman who mistakenly believed that her seat in the Senate was earned through elections, not erections,” she declared, in what is already being quoted widely across social media.
The biting letter also took aim at the culture of political patronage and entitlement that she implied reigns in some circles of Nigeria’s legislature.
“I now realize the catastrophic consequences of my actions: legislation delayed, tempers flared, and the tragic bruising of egos so large they require their own postcodes,” she quipped.
Political observers say the letter could deepen tensions between the two politicians and possibly stir broader conversations about the role of women, integrity, and power dynamics in Nigerian politics.
Senator Natasha signed off her letter unapologetically:
“I remain, Yours in eternal resistance, Senator Natasha H Akpoti Uduaghan — Unafraid, Unbought, and Unbroken.”
As of press time, Senate President Akpabio has not publicly responded to the letter.
