A fresh perspective on agriculture emerged at the 2025 World Agritourism Festival in Lagos, where key government officials and stakeholders championed farming as more than food production positioning it as a driver of innovation, tourism, and inclusive development.

Senator Aliyu Abdullahi, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, praised the event for aligning with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that the initiative bridges creativity with farming, giving agriculture a broader relevance in national development.

Ogun State First Lady, Dr. Bamidele Abiodun, applauded recent international partnerships with Brazil and Karta, saying they reflect growing foreign interest in Nigeria’s agricultural transformation. These deals, she said, are expected to boost infrastructure, introduce technology, and lift productivity.

The Commissioner for Agriculture in Ogun, Hon. Bolu Owotomo, represented by Mrs. Kehinde Jokotoye, pointed out that agriculture is evolving beyond mere subsistence, now offering opportunities in tourism and enterprise. Lagos Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Abisola Olusanya, added that agriculture supports livelihoods and ecosystems, urging a shift in national attitude to celebrate its cultural and economic contributions.

Xtralarge Farms and Resorts CEO, Dr. Seyi Davids, who hosted the event, said the goal was to reimagine farming as a lifestyle choice and a platform for community and rural prosperity. He called on Nigerians to embrace agriculture not just for survival, but as a global experience.

The evening featured cultural performances, fashion, and awards to leaders in agritourism, including Dr. Abiodun and other dignitaries..
