The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement in a statement released on Monday. Speaking on behalf of the government, he congratulated the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion.

The declaration was contained in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

The minister urged Muslims to reflect on the core values of Eid-ul-Adha—sacrifice, faith, and obedience—as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). He encouraged Nigerians to use the period for prayer and reflection, especially for peace, unity, and prosperity in the country.

“Let us embrace the spirit of sacrifice and national unity,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo said. “This season is a reminder of what we can achieve when we stand together and act in the nation’s best interest.”

He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Tinubu administration to restoring Nigeria’s standing through people-focused reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The initiatives we are implementing are designed to restore Nigeria to the path of progress,” he added.

While wishing all Muslims a peaceful and joyful Eid celebration, the minister called on Nigerians to support the administration’s efforts to build a better nation.
