The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to urgently address what it called the worsening state of Nigeria’s healthcare system.

In a letter titled A Passionate Appeal to the Commander-in-Chief of the Federation, signed by its president Mohammad Suleiman, the group warned that the health sector was on the verge of collapse and described the situation as a national emergency.

Suleiman said many doctors are still owed salaries and allowances despite several agreements with the government, stressing that they seek only the basic entitlements already approved.

He noted that frontline doctors continue to face poor working conditions while others in privileged positions receive their full benefits without delay.

NARD called on Tinubu to personally intervene and resolve its 19 pending demands to restore stability and prevent a nationwide strike planned for October 31.
