Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has called on the federal government and security agencies to urgently intensify efforts to locate Brigadier General Musa Uba, commander of the 25 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, who was reportedly abducted by militants.

In a statement released on Thursday, Ndume appealed for immediate action to secure the release of Uba, who was ambushed and captured by fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a convoy operation near Wajiroko village in Borno State on Friday.

Ndume also highlighted the urgent need to rescue 25 schoolgirls abducted on Sunday from the Government Girls Comprehensive School in Maga, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The senator stressed that swift intervention is critical to ensure the safety of both the military officer and the schoolgirls, urging security agencies to deploy all necessary resources to resolve the twin crises.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the abduction of Brigadier Uba or the kidnapped students.
