The University of Abuja has announced the appointment of Professor Rosemary Udeozor of the Department of Educational Management as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Professor Mohammad Umar Ndagi of the Department of Arabic as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), pending ratification by the Governing Council.

The appointments were confirmed during the 92nd Extraordinary Meeting of the University Senate on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, held at the institution’s main campus.

Both academics emerged unopposed after two other nominees, initially proposed by Vice-Chancellor Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, voluntarily withdrew their candidacies in favour of Udeozor and Ndagi.

In separate remarks, the newly appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellors expressed gratitude to Senate members for the trust placed in them. They pledged to support the University management’s strategic direction and advance its academic and administrative goals.

They further committed to upholding transparency and due process, promising to collaborate closely with the Vice-Chancellor to foster a harmonious and productive campus environment.

The appointments are widely regarded as a strategic move to strengthen the academic and administrative leadership at the University of Abuja, reinforcing the institution’s mission to maintain excellence in higher education.
