President Bola Tinubu has signed into law the Federal University of Environment and Technology, Ogoni Establishment Bill 2024, officially paving the way for the creation of a specialized institution dedicated to environmental and technological studies in Ogoni Land, Rivers State.

The newly established university will have two campuses within Ogoni, serving as a center for research, innovation, and education in environmental sustainability and technological advancement.

This move marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s commitment to environmental conservation and academic development, particularly in the Niger Delta region, which has faced decades of environmental challenges.

The signing of this bill underscores the government’s dedication to higher education, environmental restoration, and capacity building, ensuring that future generations of Nigerians are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to address ecological and technological issues.
