Newly appointed General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club, Ahmed Musa, has promised a sweeping transformation of the historic club, vowing to return it to the top echelon of African football.

The Nigerian international and former Leicester City striker made the pledge during a familiarization meeting with the club’s chairman, Alhaji Ali Umar, and board members on Monday in Kano. His remarks were shared in a statement issued by the club’s Media and Communications Directorate on Tuesday.

Describing Kano Pillars as a symbol of pride in Nigerian football, Musa acknowledged the club’s recent setbacks but expressed optimism that a new era of professionalism, unity, and ambition would reignite its former glory.

“Kano Pillars belongs to all of us. It’s one of the most decorated clubs in the country, but recent seasons have not reflected that legacy,” Musa said. “With the support of board members and all stakeholders, I’m committed to restoring this great institution to the top of Nigerian and African football.”

Having previously played for the club and built an illustrious career in Europe with stints in England and Russia, Musa said he is eager to apply his international experience to the management of the team.

“I’ve played here. I know the culture and the fans. I also understand what works at the highest level of the game,” he noted. “This appointment is a call to service, and I’ll give it my all.”

He emphasized that collective responsibility, discipline, and professionalism from all quarters—management, players, and supporters—would be central to the club’s revival.

The appointment of Musa as General Manager was recently approved by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, as part of a broader effort to restructure and modernize the state-owned club to align with global football standards.

Kano Pillars, a four-time champion of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), is counting on Musa’s leadership to usher in a new era of achievement and stability, both on and off the pitch.
