Zubara Global Services Limited has partnered with Tech for Agriculture and Community Africa Initiative (TAC Africa) to launch the Afri AGRITECH Institute, aimed at reducing crime and youth unemployment through smart farming and empowerment programmes.

The initiative, announced in a joint statement, will focus on using agriculture and technology to create jobs and support peacebuilding efforts in communities affected by poverty, insecurity, and disasters.

According to Promise Chizara, CEO of Zubara Global Services, the project is designed to connect vulnerable youth with sustainable livelihoods.

“Agriculture is not just about food, it’s a way to empower people, reduce violence, and break the cycle of poverty,” he said.

The Afri AGRITECH Institute will focus on four key areas: Reducing crime through agribusiness opportunities, equipping youth with agritech and entrepreneurship skills, establishing income-generating cooperatives and promoting peace and development in high-risk communities.

The programme will target youth between the ages of 15 and 30, women seeking financial inclusion, vulnerable or aging-out youth and smallholder farmers needing modern skills.

Activities will include training bootcamps in smart farming, access to tech resources, youth-led agritech hubs, cooperatives, and community outreach for peacebuilding.

The organizers expect the programme to reduce youth-related crime by six times in the target areas and create over 200 jobs in agribusiness and 300 jobs in agritech.

Zubara Farms, a subsidiary of Zubara Global Services, specializes in agricultural consulting, farm development, and cooperative training. TAC Africa is a non-profit that focuses on peacebuilding, youth empowerment, and digital access solutions.

Both organizations said the Afri AGRITECH Institute will serve as a practical model for addressing unemployment and social instability using agriculture and technology.
