The Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) has appointed Dr Abdulateef Shittu as its new Director-General as part of a sweeping reorganisation aimed at aligning the Forum’s secretariat with international best practices.

The announcement, made on Sunday by Yunusa Abdullahi, the Forum’s newly appointed Director of Media and Strategic Communications, follows a comprehensive review carried out by Deloitte to re-engineer NGF’s operations and strengthen its role as a subnational policy hub.

Abdullahi said the shake-up marks a “deliberate shift towards a more agile and results-driven institution” capable of addressing Nigeria’s pressing governance challenges.

Other key appointments include: Mr Edmund Nnaji as Executive Director Finance and Administration, Prof Dauda Yinusa, former Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development, as Executive Director, Policy, Strategy and Research, Dr Ahmad Abdulwahab Executive Director Programmes and Partnerships, Chijioke Chuku General Counsel and Head of Energy, Mrs Hauwa Haliru-Hassan Director Gender Affairs and CEO of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum and Dr Ibrahim Ahmad Katsina, Senior Security Adviser.

Abdullahi noted that the new leadership team brings expertise across law, policy, finance, health, security, and gender affairs. “These changes reflect the Forum’s commitment to building a multidisciplinary leadership capable of driving economic transformation, human capital development, and enhanced security across Nigeria,” he said.
