The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has warned of thunderstorms, moderate to heavy rains, and possible flooding across several parts of the country over the next two days.

In its weather outlook for Tuesday, August 26, 2025, NiMet said thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected in Kano, Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, Jigawa, Kaduna, Gombe, and Bauchi states, both in the morning and later in the day. The agency cautioned that parts of Borno and Yobe face a high risk of flooding.

For the Central Region, light rains are forecast over the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Plateau, and Niger in the morning, extending into the afternoon and evening. In the South, cloudy skies will dominate, with light rains over Cross River and Akwa Ibom in the morning and across most of the region later in the day.

Looking ahead to Wednesday, August 27, 2025, thunderstorms with moderate rains are anticipated in Kebbi, Zamfara, and Sokoto during the morning, shifting to Yobe, Borno, and Adamawa in the afternoon. NiMet warned of possible heavy rainfall and flooding in Bauchi, Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto, Borno, and Yobe.

The Central Region is expected to remain cloudy, while the Southern states will see morning clouds followed by light rains in Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Edo, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River.
