The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) will hold its 2025 All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC) in Abuja from November 3 to 6, focusing on the theme, “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors.”

In a joint statement on Sunday, NGE President Eze Anaba and General Secretary Onuoha Ukeh said President Bola Tinubu would declare the conference open, while the sub-theme, “Electoral Integrity and Trust Deficit: What Nigerians Expect in 2027,” would guide deliberations ahead of the next general elections.

According to the Guild, the annual forum will examine challenges and opportunities facing editors in strengthening democratic values and national cohesion. It will also identify best practices for the media in promoting unity across Nigeria’s political, ethnic, and cultural divides.

The opening session will be attended by key government officials including the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, governors, members of the diplomatic corps, and private sector leaders.

The four-day programme will feature keynote addresses and panel sessions on topics such as election disputes and judicial integrity, reforms in governance, journalism and AI disruption, media’s role in countering terrorism, and investment opportunities for editors beyond newsroom careers.

Over 500 media professionals from within and outside Nigeria are expected at the Abuja gathering, marking the second time in 12 years that the conference will be hosted in the Federal Capital Territory.
