The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across several parts of the country between Monday, September 22, and Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

According to the three-day weather outlook issued by NiMet’s Central Forecast Office, thunderstorms with light to moderate rain are expected across northern states including Adamawa, Taraba, Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Bauchi, Gombe, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Borno.

In the central region, including the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Plateau, and Kogi, cloudy conditions with intermittent sunshine will give way to thunderstorms and moderate rain, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours.

Southern states such as Rivers, Bayelsa, Lagos, Ebonyi, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom are expected to experience light rains in the morning, followed by widespread thunderstorms and moderate rain later in the day.

NiMet advised motorists to exercise caution while driving under the rain and urged farmers to avoid applying fertilizers and pesticides just before rainfall to prevent nutrient loss. Residents were also cautioned to fasten loose objects, disconnect electrical appliances, and avoid standing under tall trees during storms.

Airline operators have been directed to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective planning, while the public was encouraged to stay updated via NiMet’s website, www.nimet.gov.ng.
