Security analyst Yahuza Getso has stated that nearly all bandits operating in Nigeria’s North-West and North-Central regions are Nigerians. He said security agencies know their identities and locations.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Wednesday, Getso said, “99.9 percent of the bandits operating in North-West and North-Central Nigeria are Nigerians. We know them, we know who they are, and we know where they are. They are not in any hideout or difficult terrain.”
His remarks follow the abduction of 25 students from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, and the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba in Borno State.
The Kebbi attack occurred around 4 a.m. on Monday when gunmen stormed the school, killing the vice-principal and abducting female students despite alerts from nearby communities. Brigadier General Uba, initially declared safe after an ambush by Islamic State West Africa Province along the Damboa–Biu axis, was later confirmed dead, with ISWAP releasing images claiming responsibility.
