The Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation, Americas (NiDOA), has urged stronger collaboration between citizens at home and abroad to promote sustainable development and strengthen Nigeria’s global image.

Dr. Victor Ubani, Continental Chair of NiDOA, made the appeal in Abuja while reacting to the recent online spat between the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and a social media user, which sparked mixed reactions on the platform X.

Ubani stressed that unity and collective effort were vital to building a more prosperous nation. “Let us continue to forge ahead and form a new path toward rebranding Nigeria and taking our beloved country to greater heights. We can do that by being patriotic and working closely together to boost national growth,” he said.

He also highlighted the need for peaceful resolution of disputes to safeguard ethnic harmony and protect Nigeria’s international reputation. “The growing clamour for sanctions underscores the fear that unchecked bigotry could deepen divisions in an already polarised country like ours,” he warned.

Ubani appealed to Nigerians to look beyond recent controversies and focus on advancing the country’s progress. “I call on everyone to work closely together so that we can fully realise the set goals for our country. Let us come together as Nigerians to move our country forward,” he added.
