The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says the fight against corruption and insecurity must involve all Nigerians.

Chairman Ola Olukoyede made this known through CE Wilson Uwujaren, Director of Public Affairs, at a citizen engagement forum held in Abuja on June 3, 2025. The event was organized by Voice of Nigeria (VON).

Olukoyede stressed that safety and development are linked to financial integrity. “When public resources are misused, insecurity grows,” he said. “No agency alone can fix this. Everyone must act.”

He said communities, civil groups, and institutions must join forces. “It’s a shared duty,” he added. “We need partnerships across all sectors.”

Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, urged media houses to report truthfully and responsibly. “Support national unity through your work,” he advised.

Zakari Mijinyawa, speaking for National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, said national security depends on active citizenship. “Trust and vigilance matter as much as weapons,” he said.

Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, warned against enabling terrorists. “Don’t give them space,” he said. “We must all protect Nigeria.”

VON Director-General, Jibrin Baba Ndache, said the forum aimed to spark real action. “We need all voices—media, leaders, youth, and civil society—to shape solutions,” he said.

Other speakers included the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, the FRSC Corps Marshal, the NIPR President, and the Etsu of Kwali. They all called for wider citizen involvement in securing Nigeria’s future.
