The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has dismissed as false a widely circulated message claiming that all public schools in the territory had been ordered to shut down.

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday directed the immediate suspension of the Mandate Secretary for Education, Danlami Hayyo, over his alleged role in the circulation of the misleading notice.

In a statement issued by the Senior Special Adviser on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the Minister also instructed the Acting Head of Service, Nancy Sabanti Nathan, to commence disciplinary action against the Director of School Services, Aishatu Sani Alhassan, who authored the disputed circular. The process, he said, must follow established civil service procedures.

The administration described the school-closure message as fake and urged parents, students, and school authorities to ignore it. It reaffirmed that the academic calendar remains unchanged.

The FCTA also assured residents of strengthened security across the territory, particularly around schools. Mr Wike has ordered the immediate return of Operation Sweep and other enhanced security measures within the Federal Capital.
