The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has commissioned two new divisional offices in Ilorin West and Ilorin South Local Government Areas, a move aimed at strengthening security operations across the state.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (CON), represented by Housing and Urban Development Commissioner Segun Ogunsola, described security as the foundation of development and pledged continued government backing for security agencies. He commended the NSCDC for its proactive efforts in safeguarding lives and property.

Ilorin West council chairman, Abdulrahman Babatunde Laden, said the project was designed to provide a conducive environment for personnel, while Ilorin South chairman, Nuhu Majeed Podo, stressed that the new office would serve as a vital hub, ensuring quicker responses to incidents and stronger community engagement.

Kwara NSCDC Commandant, Umar Mohammed, revealed that the new Ilorin West Division is the largest in the state. He noted that within two years, the Command has commissioned 14 divisional offices to extend security coverage to the grassroots. “To whom much is given, much is expected,” he said, assuring residents of the Corps’ commitment to combating crime and ensuring peace.

Mohammed also praised the Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for repositioning the NSCDC into a globally respected security organisation, while expressing gratitude to Governor Abdulrazaq for fostering an enabling environment for the Corps to thrive.
