The Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu has directed the Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, to withdraw all federal cases filed against her. She made the disclosure during a Facebook Live video on Tuesday after she was allegedly stopped from travelling at an airport and had her passport seized.
Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of issuing an order to deny her exit from the country despite what she described as the President’s clear instruction ending the legal actions against her. She said Immigration officials held her passport for over 20 minutes without justification.
“There was no order,” she insisted. “Yes, I know I have two Federal Government cases, but the President instructed the Attorney-General to cancel them. He admitted they were politically motivated.”
She further claimed that Tinubu personally told Akpabio to terminate the cases because they amounted to political witch-hunt. She questioned why her travel documents were still being withheld if the President had already intervened.
Akpoti-Uduaghan criticised Akpabio for allegedly overruling boundaries and said this was not the first time her movements had been restricted.
The Federal Government had recently filed a fresh charge against her at the Federal High Court, Abuja, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/195/25, following an earlier charge at the FCT High Court. Both cases relate to allegations that she made statements deemed harmful to the reputations of Senate President Akpabio and former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello.
