Bauchi Youths Assembly Criticizes CAN’s Stance on Ramadan School Closure

By Sani Danaudin

The Youths Assembly of Nigeria, Bauchi State Chapter, has strongly condemned the Christian Association of Nigeria’s (CAN) criticism of the Bauchi State Government’s decision to temporarily close secondary schools during Ramadan.

In a statement signed by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sani Danaudi Mohammed, and shared with newsmen in Bauchi, the Assembly described CAN’s call to take the state government to court as unfortunate and unnecessary. Mohammed emphasized that this reaction reflects a misunderstanding of the Governor’s genuine intentions to promote unity and inclusivity among all citizens.

The statement praised Governor Bala Mohammed’s inclusive leadership, highlighting his balanced appointments and impactful infrastructural developments as evidence of his dedication to serving all residents, regardless of faith or background. The administration’s efforts in education, infrastructure, and economic empowerment have benefited the entire community, fostering a sense of unity across the state.

The temporary school closures during Ramadan were framed as an act of goodwill, allowing Muslim students to observe the holy month without academic distractions. The Youths Assembly commended this decision, viewing it as a thoughtful gesture that prioritizes student well-being.

The Assembly urged CAN to reconsider its position and seek constructive dialogue with the state government to find solutions that serve all stakeholders. They stressed the importance of understanding that the Governor’s decision was made in the best interest of students and the broader community.

“We will continue to support Governor Bala Mohammed’s initiatives for inclusive governance,” the statement read. “His commitment to promoting unity, equality, and justice for all citizens is a model of leadership that brings people together.”

In conclusion, the Youths Assembly reaffirmed its support for the Governor, acknowledging his administration’s significant impact on the state’s progress and calling for continued collaboration to strengthen harmony in Bauchi State.
