The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has introduced a nationwide reduction in petrol prices, providing some relief to consumers amid sustained concerns over the rising cost of fuel.

In an official announcement made via its X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, the refinery disclosed that petrol will now retail between N875 and N905 per litre, depending on location. The adjustment is effective immediately and applies to all partner fuel marketing companies across the country.

Under the revised pricing framework, motorists in Lagos will now pay N875 per litre, a drop from the previous N890. Prices in the South-West have been pegged at N885, while the North-West and Central regions will see fuel sold at N895 per litre. The highest prices will remain in the North-East, South-South, and South-East, albeit reduced to N905, down from N920.

The refinery noted that the updated prices apply specifically to fuel outlets operated by its authorised partners, including MRS, Ardova, Heyden, Optima Energy, Techno Oil, and Hyde Energy. Consumers are advised to purchase only from verified stations and report any incidents of overpricing or non-compliance.

“Our quality petrol and diesel are refined for enhanced engine performance and are environmentally friendly,” the company said in the statement.

Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, confirmed that the price review is aligned with the refinery’s broader goal of contributing to economic stability and easing the financial pressure on Nigerian households and businesses.

The Dangote Refinery, touted as the largest single-train refinery in the world, began local fuel distribution earlier this year and has positioned itself as a key player in Nigeria’s push for energy independence.
