The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Charity Service Community Development Service (CDS) group is currently holding a live sensitization rally in Yola, Adamawa State, to raise awareness about rape, child abuse, and the growing crisis of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

The rally, taking place on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, features dozens of NYSC corps members marching through local streets with banners and placards bearing messages such as “End Rape,” “Support the Girl Child,” “Say No to Molestation,” and “No Child Should Be Out of School.”

Organized under the NYSC Charity Service platform, the event has attracted the attention of community members as corps participants stop periodically to engage residents, share advocacy materials, and discuss the importance of child safety and education.

Speaking during the rally, a corps member and representative of the group said the campaign is a call to action: “Our goal is to be a voice for the vulnerable and to challenge the silence around sexual and child abuse in our society. We are not just here to serve for 12 months—we are here to make a lasting impact and speak up for those who cannot.”

The group stressed the importance of partnerships between families, schools, religious institutions, and government bodies in the fight against abuse and neglect. According to organizers, empowering communities with knowledge is a vital step toward long-term change.

The awareness rally is part of NYSC’s wider commitment to national development and youth-led advocacy, particularly in underserved areas. The organizers noted that additional outreach events will be held in the coming weeks.
