Shock and grief have gripped Adamawa State following the brutal murder of Mr. Thomas Godwin, popularly known as Zamfara, who was killed in a violent attack late Tuesday night.
The incident, which occurred on April 15, has sent waves of fear and outrage across the community. According to preliminary police reports, Mr. Godwin was ambushed by unknown assailants while returning home. He was reportedly beaten with sticks and clubs in a savage assault that claimed his life.
In response, the Adamawa State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing. Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to lead the probe.
“A team of seasoned detectives has already been deployed to ensure the perpetrators of this heinous act are swiftly identified and brought to justice,” said SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Police Public Relations Officer, in a press release issued Wednesday morning.
The police have called on members of the public to come forward with any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation. “No detail is too small,” SP Nguroje urged. “We need the support of the public to bring the killers of Mr. Godwin to book.”
While investigations continue, the Command expressed its condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, praying for his soul to rest in peace.
Mr. Godwin, known to many by his alias “Zamfara,” was a familiar face in the community. His untimely and violent death has left residents stunned, with many calling for increased security and a speedy investigation.
