Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to advancing the rights and welfare of children, describing them as the foundation of the state’s future.

In a statement commemorating this year’s Children’s Day, the governor emphasized the importance of developing policies and initiatives that protect children from harm, neglect, and exploitation. He noted that his government is steadfast in its resolve to ensure every child in the state grows up in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.

“As we mark Children’s Day, we are reminded of our responsibility to nurture the next generation,” Fintiri stated. “Children represent our most valuable asset, and their well-being is critical to the long-term success of our society.”

This year’s theme, “Stand Up, Speak Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation,” aligns with the governor’s push for a society that empowers children and safeguards their mental and physical health.

Fintiri highlighted the state’s adoption of the Child Rights Act and a range of education-focused programmes as key steps toward ensuring that no child is left behind. “Through strategic investments in education and child protection, we are giving our children a fighting chance at a better future,” he said.

The governor also called on parents, guardians, and communities to play active roles in safeguarding children’s rights. “It is not the government’s responsibility alone. Every stakeholder has a role to play in shaping a secure, nurturing environment for our young ones,” he noted.

Fintiri concluded by extending heartfelt wishes to children across Adamawa State, encouraging them to dream big and remain resilient. “May your dreams be nurtured, your voices heard, and your futures safeguarded,” he added.

Children’s Day is celebrated annually in Nigeria on May 27 to promote awareness of the rights and needs of children.
