Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers have reportedly killed two police officers at Kolere Police Out-Post in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Investigations had it that series of attacks were carried out on the same outpost by groups of thugs, suspected to be armed robbers, leading to the death of a police officers, late DSP Ali Pindar who arrested a high profiled gang leader in the community and transferred the suspect to Damagum Divisional Police Headquarters in Fune LGA, where the suspect was later arraigned and granted bail.

A source from the community with name withheld told newsmen that high profiled criminals and gang leaders after been freed, are in-charge of all attacks and the murder of all police officers in the area.

Another source disclosure to thenorthjournals that the first incidence occurred in December 2024 and the second on Sunday, February 9, when the officer in charge of the Out-Post, DSP Jantuku Philibus went to arrest another suspect, and was reportedly attacked and killed by the thugs.

It was gathered that the late DSP succeeded in killing one of the armed robbers before he was overpowered and killed after sustaining varying degrees of injury.

Confirming the incidence, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said two officers were overwhelmed by the suspects and their gang when they attempted to arrest them.

The town has recently witnessed cases of high-profile armed robbery, and kidnapping among others.
