The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a suspected vehicle thief, recovering a stolen Hyundai Tucson, a tricycle, and several other items in the process.

Police spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga said in a statement on Monday that the suspect, Chidi Nwoye, 24, was intercepted in the early hours of August 22 along Minaj Road, Obosi, by operatives attached to the Isiowulu Police Division working with local vigilantes.

Nwoye, who was found operating a stolen tricycle, allegedly confessed to using master keys to steal parked vehicles and tricycles.

Recovered items include a Hyundai Tucson (reg. no. PH 725 AAA), a tricycle (reg. no. NSH 051 UD), eight GSM phones, four master keys, a battle axe, ATM cards, driver’s license, PVC, vehicle tracking device, ignition tools, and other personal effects.

Ikenga said investigations have been extended to the suspect’s hideout for possible recovery of more stolen items. He urged members of the public whose property may have been stolen to visit the Isiowulu Police Station for identification.

“The suspect shall be charged to court on the conclusion of the investigation,” the police spokesman added.
