The entire Enugu State caucus in the House of Representatives has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced the move on Thursday after reading their resignation letters from the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party.

The defection, witnessed by Governor Peter Mbah, marks a major political shift, as the APC now controls all eight House seats from Enugu.

Speaking after the announcement, Nnolim Nnaji, representing Nkanu East/Nkanu West, said the lawmakers’ decision was driven by their desire to align with Governor Mbah’s development agenda and connect Enugu to the national mainstream.

Other defectors include Martins Oke, Anayo Onwuegbu, Nnamdi Agbo, and Mark Obetta. In a related move, Daniel Asama, representing Bassa/Jos North, also left the Labour Party for the APC.
