Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has condemned the abduction of 25 students from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

During a visit by the wives of the service chiefs to the State House on Tuesday, she called for a minute of silence in honour of the students and the late vice principal who was killed in the attack.

The delegation comprised Mrs. Sefiyan Shuaibu, Mrs. Ngozi Aneke, Mrs. Aishatu Abass, and Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, representing the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Police Officers’ Wives Associations.

Tinubu praised the country’s new service chiefs for their efforts in strengthening national security, while commending their spouses for supporting military families and driving community-focused initiatives nationwide.

She encouraged the visiting wives to foster deeper collaboration with her office, recalling her productive partnership with the spouses of former service chiefs and their contributions to widows, veterans, and vulnerable groups.

Speaking on the Kebbi tragedy, the First Lady acknowledged the difficult conditions under which security personnel operate and saluted their dedication despite the risks involved.

She also outlined upcoming initiatives of her Renewed Hope Initiative, including financial support for persons with disabilities on December 3 and special assistance for the elderly on December 16. According to her, N100 million has been earmarked for end-of-year programmes targeting vulnerable Nigerians.

The wives of the service chiefs, led by Mrs. Egbetokun, expressed gratitude for the First Lady’s guidance and ongoing support. They highlighted ongoing projects involving scholarships, skills training, widow empowerment, and annual welfare support for senior citizens.

The group promised to deepen their collaboration with the First Lady, pledging to advance programmes that promote women’s empowerment, community development, and national peace.
