Former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has shared a deeply emotional message following the loss of close associates he described as “brothers,” expressing gratitude for the support shown to their families and reflecting on the weight of the tragedy.

In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, Joshua said he had not fully realized how special the men were while they were alive, noting that he often spent time with them casually, unaware of the significance of their presence in his life.

“Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers,” Joshua wrote. “I didn’t even realise how special they are… not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men.”

The British-Nigerian boxer acknowledged the emotional toll of the loss, stating that while the situation is difficult for him personally, he believes it is even more painful for the parents of the deceased.

“100% it’s tough for me, but I know it’s even tougher for their parents,” he said, adding that his faith has been a source of strength during the period of mourning.

Joshua concluded the message with a prayerful note, expressing trust in God’s judgment and mercy: “I have a strong mind, and I believe God knows their hearts. May God have mercy on my brothers.”

The post has drawn widespread reactions from fans and fellow athletes, many of whom offered condolences and praised the boxer for his openness and compassion during a time of grief.
