In a sweeping security operation that signals zero tolerance for criminal activity in Adamawa State, the state’s Police Command has arrested fifty-seven (57) suspects linked to Shilla gangsterism, drug abuse, and other criminal activities across Jimeta, Girei, and Yola metropolis.
The Adamawa State Police Command, operating under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Kabiru Umar Hassan, fdc, has continued to escalate its aggressive campaign against Shilla gangsterism, a form of violent street crime that has plagued communities across the state. The latest operation marks a significant step in the Command’s ongoing push to dismantle criminal networks and restore lasting peace.
A coordinated operation was launched targeting identified criminal hideouts and black spots within the Jimeta and Yola metropolitan areas. Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), working under the direct supervision of their respective Area Commanders, led the targeted raids in a well-organised, intelligence-driven deployment.
The operation yielded decisive results. Fifty-seven suspects were apprehended on charges bordering on Shilla-related activities, public nuisance, possession of dangerous weapons, and involvement with prohibited substances. Police operatives also recovered various dangerous weapons and suspected banned substances from the suspects during the raid.
All exhibits recovered during the operation have been documented and will be tendered as evidence in court during prosecution. The suspects have been formally charged before a court of competent jurisdiction in accordance with the law, while profiling and further investigations continue to determine the full extent of their involvement in other criminal activities.
Commissioner of Police Hassan commended the professionalism and commitment displayed by the officers who participated in the operation, describing their conduct as exemplary. He reassured residents of Adamawa State that the Command remains unwavering in its determination to uproot criminal gangs from communities.
The Command further called on members of the public to remain vigilant and play an active role in community security by providing the police with credible and timely information that will aid crime prevention and detection.
