Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum on Wednesday led his counterparts from the North East to a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where they pressed for urgent action on critical infrastructure and energy projects.

The session, attended by Governors Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa), and Agbu Kefas (Taraba), focused on the completion of 17 major road networks across the region and the resumption of oil exploration at the Kolmani and Lake Chad frontier basins.

Zulum, who chairs the North East Governors’ Forum, highlighted key projects including the Kano–Maiduguri Road, Port Harcourt–Jos–Bauchi–Maiduguri Railway Line, Bama–Mubi–Yola Road, Wukari–Jalingo–Yola Road, Bauchi–Gombe–Biu–Damaturu Road, and Damaturu–Geidam Road. He urged the president to prioritize them as lifelines for economic recovery and regional stability.

The governor commended Tinubu for sustaining military operations against insurgents and helping stabilize the region.
“Mr. President, the North East governors hold you in high esteem. We are resolved to partner with you in providing good governance and leaving behind lasting legacies for the country,” Zulum said.

In his remarks, President Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to the region’s development, pledging federal support for both infrastructure and oil exploration efforts.
