The Africa Green Economy and Sustainability Institute (AGESI), a pioneering “do-tank” with its first office in Nigeria, is set to play a prominent role at the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) in Addis Ababa, scheduled for September 8-10, 2025.

Known for translating climate ambitions into practical outcomes, AGESI will use the summit to unveil its Africa Green Opportunity Index (GOI), an initiative designed to reframe Africa’s transition from climate vulnerability to economic opportunity. The index offers policymakers and investors a roadmap for unlocking renewable energy and critical mineral resources across the continent.

At ACS2, convened by the African Union Commission and the Government of Ethiopia, AGESI will participate in high-level discussions on climate finance, cross-regional partnerships, and sustainable investment frameworks. The summit will gather heads of state, development partners, private sector leaders, and civil society to advance African-led climate solutions under the theme “Accelerating Global Climate Solutions: Financing Africa’s Resilient and Green Development.”

AGESI’s presence underscores its commitment to ensuring a strong and unified African voice in global climate negotiations ahead of COP30 in Belém, Brazil. The institute, launched in Nigeria, works across the continent to transform climate commitments into scalable projects ranging from renewable energy expansion to electric vehicle adoption while driving policy reform and community resilience.
