The Plateau State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) on Monday visited victims of recent attacks in 11 communities of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area and delivered additional relief supplies to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

Executive Secretary Sunday Abdu, who led the delegation, said the intervention followed Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s directive to bring immediate succour to those affected. He condemned the assaults, describing them as “heinous and calamitous,” and prayed for peace in the troubled region.

Abdu noted that more than 6,000 displaced people are currently sheltered in camps at Kwa, Doemak, and Ba’ap, with the majority being women, children, and the elderly. “We are aware of the struggles they face. Five women have delivered babies in the camps, including a set of twins,” he revealed.

He commended Qua’an Pan council chairman Christopher Manship for his commitment to supporting IDPs and strengthening community resilience. Manship in turn praised SEMA for standing with the people, assuring residents that security agencies are working to stabilise the area and facilitate the safe return of displaced families.

The donations included mattresses, blankets, mats, clothing, buckets, and cooking utensils, along with food supplies such as rice, beans, maize, garri, noodles, seasoning, sugar, and vegetable oil.
