The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy skies, thunderstorms, and moderate rainfall across different regions of the country between Thursday, September 25, and Saturday, September 27, 2025.

According to the forecast released by NiMet’s Central Forecast Office, the northern region will experience intervals of sunshine and isolated thunderstorms with light rains in parts of Taraba, Zamfara, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, Jigawa, Borno, and Yobe. By the weekend, moderate rains are expected in Sokoto, Zamfara, and other northeastern states.

In the central region, cloudy conditions with chances of thunderstorms and light rains are projected over Niger, Kwara, FCT, Nasarawa, Benue, Plateau, and Kogi. Moderate rains are anticipated across the zone in the later hours of the forecast period.

The southern region is expected to record cloudy skies with light rains over Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Abia in the mornings, followed by widespread thunderstorms and moderate rains in Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Bayelsa, Edo, Delta, and Rivers states during afternoons and evenings.

NiMet urged citizens to take precautions, warning motorists to drive carefully in wet conditions and farmers to avoid applying fertilizers or pesticides immediately before rainfall to prevent nutrient loss. Residents are also advised to fasten loose objects, disconnect electrical appliances during storms, and avoid sheltering under trees. Airline operators were reminded to obtain airport-specific weather reports for safe planning.

NiMet encouraged the public to stay updated by visiting its website, www.nimet.gov.ng.
