    Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes ACReSAL Project in Jigawa state says it will select six remote communities to install solar-powered streetlights.

    The State Coordinator of the project, Alhaji Yahaya Muhammad Uba Kafin Gana stated this to newsmen in Dutse.

    According to him 60 more communities have been selected to receive interest-free loans and urged previous loan recipients to ensure repayment so that others can benefit.

    He explained that, Governor Umar Namadi has approved the purchase of two additional dredging machines to clear the Hadejia River.

    According to him, the gesture was aimed at improving river management and preventing water from flooding into farmlands.

    Alhaji Muhammad Uba said, ACRESAL in collaboration with the State ministry of environment, will nurture 5.5 million tree seedlings this year as part of efforts to combat soil erosion.

    He pointed out that, over 187 million naira compensation payments is currently being disbursed to individuals whose properties were affected by erosion control projects in Dan Masara and Kalgo quarters in Dutse local government.
