The National Youth Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Balarabe Rufai, has declared that the people of Anambra State are ready to reclaim their destiny through the party in the forthcoming governorship election.
Rufai stated this during a working visit to the state, where he joined the ADC governorship candidate, His Excellency John Nwosu, at campaign rallies in Idemili North and Idemili South Local Government Areas.
Addressing journalists after the rally, Rufai said the massive turnout of supporters reflected the growing disenchantment among citizens and their desire for genuine change.
“From the airport to the streets of Awka, the message was clear — the people are tired of deceit and ready for change,” he said. “At the rally, the crowd chanted ‘ADC bu ụzọ ọhụrụ’ meaning ‘ADC is the new path.’ Their voices carried years of disappointment but also the strength to rebuild their state.”
Rufai criticized both the APC-led Federal Government and the APGA-led Anambra State Government, accusing them of neglecting infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment.
“Everywhere I went, I saw broken roads, empty schools, and restless youth,” he noted. “Enugu and Anambra tell the same story of neglect and betrayal. The APC has failed Nigeria, and APGA has failed Anambra. Governor Soludo speaks in Abuja while his people suffer at home.”
He cited an Igbo proverb to underscore the growing frustration of the people: “A na-agba egbe na nkụ na-ekwu na ọ bụghị anụmanụ ka e ji egwu egwu,” meaning “You cannot shoot at dry wood and pretend it is not dangerous.”
Youth Mobilisation and Strategy
Before leaving the state, Rufai held a strategic session with local government youth leaders chaired by the Anambra State Youth Leader. The meeting focused on strengthening grassroots structures, defending votes, and mobilising young voters for the party.
“The energy in that room reminded me that the future truly belongs to the youth,” he said. “The ADC is offering a new deal — one built on skills, technology, and entrepreneurship. We will make the youth partners in governance, not spectators in their own future.”
Rufai reiterated that the ADC’s message of reform was resonating strongly with young people across the state, describing the campaign as a movement of integrity and hope.
“Onye fee Eze, Eze eruo ya — he who serves the people faithfully becomes king in their hearts,” he said. “That is the spirit of our movement. The time for pretenders is over. The time for ADC has come.”
Background
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is one of the parties contesting the upcoming Anambra governorship election. Its candidate, John Nwosu, has based his campaign on transparency, youth inclusion, and grassroots development.
Political observers say the ADC is seeking to position itself as a viable alternative to the two dominant parties, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), ahead of the polls.
