The Edo State Government has entered into a strategic partnership with the German Embassy aimed at scaling up food production, promoting large-scale agricultural processing, and attracting foreign investment to the state’s agribusiness sector.
The agreement was reached during a bilateral meeting in Benin City between Golden Ugbodu, Special Adviser on Agriculture and Food Security to Governor Monday Okpebholo, and Johannes Lehne, Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy.
Ugbodu said the collaboration aligns with the governor’s vision of ensuring food security and sustainable agricultural development across the state.
“We plan to leverage Germany’s expertise, especially in deploying industrial machines for large-scale farming and processing,” he noted.
According to Ugbodu, the initiative will open the door for German investors to tap into Edo’s farming, processing, and export opportunities, contributing to both nutritional access and economic empowerment for citizens.
“Our goal is to ensure that Edo people have access to nutritious food and viable livelihoods,” he added.
The move is expected to modernize Edo’s agriculture sector, making it a leading destination for agribusiness investment in Nigeria.
