    Yola, Nigeria

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has extended heartfelt congratulations to Abdullahi Ibrahim and other newly elected officials of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adamawa State Council, following their emergence in Wednesday’s elections.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri described the successful election as a reflection of the collegial spirit and democratic maturity within the journalism profession. He commended the peaceful conduct of the polls and called on the new leadership to prioritize unity, inclusiveness, and professionalism in steering the affairs of the Union.

“Elections should never be seen as a battle for supremacy but as a contest among colleagues with shared goals,” Governor Fintiri remarked, urging the newly elected executives to extend a hand of fellowship to their fellow contenders and ensure that no member of the Union is left behind.

Abdullahi Ibrahim will serve a three-year term as Chairman, alongside his executive council members. The Governor charged the new leadership with the task of restoring fading professional values and upholding ethical journalism in the state.

“May I also remind journalists to live by the ethics of this important profession, which remains critical to the democratic life of our country,” the Governor stated.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to building a more vibrant and respectful relationship with the media, grounded in mutual respect and shared commitment to the progress of Adamawa State.

Governor Fintiri concluded by wishing the new NUJ Chairman and his team a successful and impactful tenure.
