    Yola, Nigeria

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has expressed profound grief over the death of Professor Jibrin Aminu, describing the late statesman as “a towering figure in Nigeria’s intellectual and political landscape.” The renowned academic and public servant passed away at the age of 85.

In a heartfelt tribute, Governor Fintiri highlighted Professor Aminu’s lifelong contributions to nation-building, noting that his death is a monumental loss not only to Adamawa State but to the entire country.

“Nigeria has lost one of its finest minds, a devoted public servant, and a distinguished son of Adamawa. Professor Jibrin Aminu was a rare breed of patriot and a silent reformer whose legacy spans education, diplomacy, and politics,” the Governor said.

Professor Aminu’s decades of service to Nigeria included appointments as Minister of Education, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, and Senator representing Adamawa Central. In each role, he was widely respected for his intellect, humility, and unwavering commitment to national development.

Governor Fintiri praised the late professor for embodying “dignity, insight, and an unwavering commitment to national development,” adding that his life’s work is an enduring gift to the nation.

While extending condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and admirers of the late professor, Governor Fintiri offered prayers for the repose of his soul. “May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus,” he said.

The Governor concluded by emphasizing that although Professor Aminu’s passing leaves a deep void, “his legacy remains a guiding light for generations to come. May his soul find peace in the mercy of Allah.”
