The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said on Monday that 1,379,342 Nigerians completed the online pre-registration process in the first week of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise held between August 18 and 24, 2025.

According to the CVR State Pre-Registration Report, Lagos State recorded the highest number of pre-registrations with 222,205 entries, representing 16.1 percent of the national total. Osun State, however, emerged with the largest share by percentage at 28.5 percent, with 393,269 registrants. Ogun also posted a strong turnout with 132,823 registrations (9.6 percent).

The Federal Capital Territory accounted for 107,682 registrations (7.8 percent), while Oyo (66,951), Kaduna (61,592), and Kogi (58,546) were among the leading states.

In contrast, the South-East recorded the lowest figures, with Ebonyi (261), Enugu (484), and Imo (481) all posting below 500 registrations. Abia added 772, while Anambra was not listed separately.

The commission confirmed that the physical phase of the CVR began on Monday across 811 centres, including all 774 local government offices. Both new applicants and online registrants are expected to complete biometrics at INEC centres.

The exercise will also accommodate voter transfers, replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, and updates of personal details. INEC assured that measures have been put in place to ensure access for persons with disabilities and vulnerable groups.
