The Kano State Government has dismissed widespread rumors suggesting an imminent security breakdown, insisting the state remains calm, stable and firmly under control.
The reassurance followed a Sunday meeting of the State Security Council, where Governor Abba Yusuf received detailed briefings from all security agencies on operations across the state.
In a statement released on Monday by the Director-General of Media and Publicity, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, the government said it had not received any credible intelligence indicating a threat to public safety.
“There is no valid or actionable information pointing to any significant security risk in Kano,” the statement noted, describing the circulating reports as false, sensational, and aimed at creating unnecessary fear.
The government condemned the rising circulation of fake security alerts and warned those responsible to desist or face prosecution.
According to the statement, the state has strengthened collaboration with security and intelligence agencies while intensifying surveillance in all parts of Kano.
“Security formations have been briefed, strategically deployed and are working round the clock to neutralize any potential breach. Every part of Kano is under active surveillance supported by a robust security architecture,” it added.
Residents were urged to remain calm, go about their daily activities and avoid spreading unverified information online.
The government further emphasized that the Yusuf administration is improving intelligence gathering, boosting inter-agency coordination and deploying advanced security tools to maintain order.
