A new faith-based educational institution, Lumbi International Academy, has officially opened its doors in Yola town, offering a unique blend of academic excellence, Islamic moral instruction, and modern learning technologies.

The school, which admits learners from crèche to junior secondary level, aims to provide a holistic education that nurtures both the mind and spirit. It also offers adult Islamiyya for men and women, Tahfeez gap-year programs for boarding students, and Qur’anic memorization classes for external learners.

According to the Director of the academy, Alhaji Jibrila Abubakar Ahidjo, the school was established to raise a new generation grounded in strong Islamic values while being equipped to thrive in a fast-changing world.

“Our programs are designed to instill discipline, compassion, and a lifelong love for learning,” Ahidjo said. “We combine Qur’anic memorization, moral development, and modern technology to deliver a well-rounded, future-ready education.”

Assistant Head of School (Academics), Mr. Abdullahi Tajudeen, noted that the academy’s teaching philosophy is anchored in the Islamic concept of ‘ilm (knowledge), which he said was central to the rise of early Muslim scholars who pioneered fields like science, mathematics, and medicine.

“We are reviving that legacy by nurturing students who are academically excellent, spiritually upright, and ready for the demands of the modern world,” he said.

The school’s administrative lead, Mr. Mashood Kayode Raji, emphasized that the academy uses technology to enhance learning without compromising religious values.

“We integrate digital tools with Islamic teachings to create a balanced educational environment,” Raji explained.

Also speaking, Mr. Mohammed Bello Saad, Technical Assistant to the Director, said that early childhood memorization of the Qur’an is a core part of the curriculum.

“It’s a powerful way to shape moral character and foster a lifelong love for Islam,” he said.

Lumbi International Academy offers boarding facilities with 24-hour electricity, modern sporting infrastructure, and creative play spaces for younger children. The school is now accepting applications into crèche, nursery, primary, and junior secondary school levels.
