The Northern Christian Association of Nigeria has praised Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for granting clemency to Sunday Jackson, a Christian farmer sentenced to death after a violent attack on his farm.

The pardon, announced on Tuesday, sparked celebrations in Yola as residents expressed their joy. Northern CAN described the earlier conviction as a miscarriage of justice and said the governor’s intervention restored confidence in fairness and the rule of law.

The group urged Nigerian leaders to use the Christmas season to promote justice, peace, and national security, calling on the Federal Government to investigate the sponsors of terrorism. It also commended security agencies and community leaders for their efforts and called on citizens to remain law-abiding and committed to unity.
