Over 1.9 million Nigerians have applied for the 2025 Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) recruitment, according to figures released after the application portal closed on Monday, August 11.

Data from the board’s website shows a total of 1,911,141 applications were submitted before the deadline. Kogi State recorded the highest number of applicants with 116,162, followed by Kaduna (114,536) and Benue (110,565). Bayelsa and Lagos had the fewest, with 11,669 and 14,216 applications, respectively.

The top five states by application numbers  Kogi, Kaduna, Benue, Kano, and Niger accounted for 510,174 applicants, while the bottom five include Bayelsa, Lagos, Rivers, Ebonyi, and Delta, which together recorded 99,658.

The recruitment exercise, which faced several delays and technical disruptions, was initially set to begin on June 26 before being postponed to July 14 and later to July 21. The application window, originally due to close on August 4, was extended by one week to August 11 after repeated portal crashes.

Following the close of the application phase, CDCFIB announced that shortlisted candidates will soon be contacted with further instructions. In a statement on its official X account, the board thanked applicants for their interest and urged them to monitor their email, text messages, and the CDCFIB portal for updates.

“Shortlisted candidates will be contacted shortly with further instructions. We encourage all applicants to regularly check their email, text messages, and our official platforms for important updates,” the board stated.
