The trial of former Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, and his former Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Ademola Banu, over an alleged N5.78 billion fraud, is ongoing at the Kwara State High Court, Ilorin.

The case, presided over by Justice Mahmud Abdulgafar, involves accusations of diverting public funds earmarked for teachers’ salaries, basic school infrastructure, and security projects under the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

At Tuesday’s hearing, the court was expected to continue hearing from Alhaji Suleiman Oluwadare Ishola, the state’s former Accountant General, who is a key witness for the prosecution.

Ahmed and Banu are facing multiple charges bordering on criminal conspiracy and misappropriation of public funds, brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
