The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced a major stride toward operational excellence with the unveiling of its integrated ISO policy, aimed at achieving full certification for all Nigerian airports by December 2025.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Henry Agbehire, on Tuesday, following the formal presentation of the policy on Monday, October 21.
According to the statement, the new policy merges ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS) into a single framework designed to standardize airport operations nationwide.
“The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, represented by the Director of Human Resources and Administration, Dr. Loqman Emiola, today unveiled the Authority’s Integrated ISO Policy at a ceremony held on Monday, October 21, 2025,” the statement read.
FAAN disclosed that approximately 70% of the certification process has been completed, with external auditors expected to assess compliance and close any identified gaps in November 2025.
Mrs. Kuku, represented by Dr. Emiola, explained that the integrated ISO policy provides a working framework for internal audits across all directorates, ensuring that every operational activity is properly documented and aligned with FAAN’s core principles. She noted that the new system underscores FAAN’s commitment to service quality, operational safety, and environmental sustainability.
“The policy will strengthen FAAN’s dedication to quality assurance, safety, and environmental responsibility, thereby enhancing operational credibility and boosting confidence in Nigeria’s aviation sector,” Kuku said.
ISO certification represents a globally recognized benchmark for quality, safety, and environmental performance. By adopting the integrated framework, FAAN aims to align Nigeria’s airports with international best practices, ensuring efficient, secure, and environmentally responsible operations.
The final stage of the certification process will involve an external audit in November 2025, paving the way for full ISO certification of all FAAN-managed airports by December 2025.
