Teachers across Adamawa State have expressed deep appreciation to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri following the successful implementation of the ₦70,000 new national minimum wage for local government workers, with educators emerging as key beneficiaries.
The commendation came from Dr. Murtala Umar Babayi, Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), who described the wage increase as a “landmark achievement” during a press briefing in Yola. He said the policy reflects the Fintiri administration’s steadfast commitment to improving the welfare of teachers and grassroots civil servants.
According to Dr. Babayi, many teachers have already seen an upward review in their salaries, which he believes will significantly boost morale, enhance productivity, and improve the quality of basic education delivery across the state.
“This development marks a turning point in the lives of our teachers. It enables them to better support their families and recommit themselves to shaping the future of Adamawa through education,” he stated.
The SUBEB Chairman hailed the Governor’s leadership, noting that prioritizing teachers’ needs reflects a deep understanding of their central role in educational and societal advancement.
He assured continued collaboration between ADSUBEB and the state government to ensure effective implementation of policies aimed at raising education standards.
Dr. Babayi also encouraged educators to remain dedicated, assuring them that their contributions would not go unrecognized under the current administration.
