The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has vowed to contest and win the 2027 presidential election, declaring that “failure is not an option” as it positions itself as the main opposition platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking at the party’s inaugural National Working Committee (NWC) meeting on Tuesday, National Chairman Senator David Mark said the party’s mission goes beyond electoral victory, stressing the need to build a legacy that future generations will be proud of.

“Our mission is not only to attain power in 2027; it is to leave a legacy. We must compete and win,” Mark stated. He vowed that the ADC would defend separation of powers, restore institutional independence, and promote transparency in governance.

Mark said the party would be guided by “character, competence, courage, and discipline,” and committed to policies that address food security, electricity, job creation, and governance reforms. He also emphasised internal democracy and building strong party structures nationwide.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier recognised the ADC leadership under Mark and Rauf Aregbesola on September 10, following the July 2 opposition coalition adoption meeting.

Among those in attendance were National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, former SGF Babachir Lawal, and former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
