The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says it is confident of becoming a major contender in the 2027 general elections, even though it has no sitting governor. National Vice Chairman Senator Nazif Gamawa made the declaration during a media interaction in Bauchi on Monday.

Gamawa argued that political strength does not depend on incumbency, recalling how former President Muhammadu Buhari once defeated an incumbent without governors backing him. He said Nigerians are already embracing the idea of a fresh political movement, describing the ADC as “the savior” offering voters “one blow” against failed leadership.

He dismissed suggestions of internal crises within the party and encouraged politicians frustrated with their current platforms to join the ADC. He also criticized the high cost of nomination forms in other parties, promising that the ADC would keep its forms accessible to all.

Gamawa, a former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, expressed confidence that the party’s leaders were repositioning the movement for national impact. He assured that an ADC-led government would prioritize fairness and mass-oriented governance.

He urged eligible citizens to collect their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the polls, warning that Nigeria’s leadership problems will persist if voters fail to participate. According to him, the country’s political space has been captured by a few individuals, and the ADC intends to mentor young leaders ready to reshape the future.
